And of course, I'm sure you are all aware that the book has now been despoiled by its "updating" with the presence of the Great Red Usurper.

As a little kid I was always scared while reading that book, but then not at the end. and so I'd read it again... I read it a lot.

Wow. I'd somehow never seen that before.

You'd have thought that after the first couple of failures, he'd vary his strategy a little.

I remember this book, but the updated version I got my own kids The Ho At The End Of This Book, by Paris Hilton, didn't seem to have the same effect.

I'm sitting here doing everything I can to both avoid and complete the employee reviews that I have to have done tomorrow. I am so stressed out that my ears are tingling at the edges and the back of my neck is full of grade-D gristle. I come on to Livejournal. And get to heave the biggest, happiest sigh.

Everyone on my team is getting a kickass review now.

That book is wonderful. I have a copy of it in my car right now, actually. I've bought it like three times; I keep losing it, or giving it away. I used to make the kids in my arts and crafts programs turn the pages--they loved it when the wall fell down. Awesome.

Love the illustrations now more than in 1984. Jon Stone might be a genius, and this is the only thing he did I know about.
