your icon ... it made me peer. there was a restaurant here in SF that was my favorite italian place, called boca roti. it closed down a few years ago. i was thinking "what are the odds?"

She's staying at one of those all-inclusive resorts. My experience with those who stay at the resorts, especially ones that have sprung up in the midst of a third-world country (and Costa Rica still is very much third-world) is that they don't leave the friendly confines of the resort for anything except to jet back home.

So I'm not sure of her motives, but they certainly weren't scholarly.

Also, plenty of Costa Ricans hate brown people- they're just more selective.

Seems like a perfectly reasonable question to me. One prepares entirely different for a trip to a fairly busy port/resort city than for a trip to a tiny village or retreat somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
