IT'S THE EAST ASIA CHALLENGE
Jun. 26th, 2006 08:50 pmI like ordering out from East Asia in Powderhouse Square because A. it's cheap, B. the food is good and 3. the driver guy is FAST. I mean, super fast. Last time I ordered from East Asia, I did so at something like 7:41 pm. By 7:50, the food had arrived. That's like nine minutes from "I'd like to place an order for delivery" to "Hello yes I did order from you guys" and that includes the time it took to spell out my street name over the phone twice and beg for no bean sprouts on the tofu pad thai. I gave a big honkin "Even tho you guys are like a half mile away, you rock" tip.
Tonight I ordered at 8:50. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE? OH THE EXCITEMENT IS PALPABLE HERE AT THE HALL OF JUSTICE

Okay, I want a coupla pizzas delivered, one pepperoni, one...
Everyone who has mocked me for saying, "Hi, I'd like to place an order for delivery..." has suggested that it's a stilted, excessively formal way to begin the transaction. And occasionally, even the person taking the order has replied, somewhat antagonistically, "Well, okay, go ahead then."
