You're right, the film really did play like a rainy-day imagination game. If things could have stayed at that, I'd have really enjoyed it, but my eyes rolled too far in the back of my head when Mary Sue came out to play (many apologies, plumtreeblossom) and I couldn't get 'em to roll back to normal.
