Well, this could very well be one of the greatest ideas to ever come out of the mind of a human being:

The people of Tokyo should construct a giant building shaped like Godzilla. Imagine what it would do to the city’s skyline, and to the tourism industry. People would come from all over to take pictures. His eyes could flash red so airplanes don’t hit him. There could be an observatory in his mouth so people could look out over Tokyo. One of his arms could house a bar, and the other arm a restaurant. They could serve drinks called Mothra Martinis and dishes like Grilled Gamera Steaks, with a side of Mashed Potatoes.

There's even some "artist's renditions" too. Clearly this is a dream that should become a reality.

Unfortunately, it only took a few seconds from my mind to morph from "This is absolutely the coolest idea ever!" to "they'll never be able to build this..especially when you consider the size of the buildings already up that it would need to tower over....and who's going to want to live in one of those back-plate thingy apartments? Not me."

So to sum up, this idea is very cool and I am very old.

I dreamt up something similar when I was about ten: a huge cowshaped steakhouse, with the waiting area in the legs, the eyes an observatory, the eating in the general stomach area, and I bet you can guess where I thought the bathrooms should go.

Your cow-shaped building reminds me of Lucy the Elephant, the famous hotel in Margate, New Jersey. Though I'm pretty sure its bathrooms are in a more, uh, genteel place.

There is a significant dearth of animal-shaped buildings in this country, and I fully support the efforts to build more.

It's a slightly edited version of this charming lad. His picture was discovered and displayed on one of those Found Images websites. I believe he is exhibiting a science project. I know he is way too happy to be wearing a space helmet and standing by all that equipment!

Believe me, there's not much you could do to Tokyo to make it uglier, so what the hell. But there's plenty of kitsch in this city already -- not sure I want to deliberately court more.
