I want to know!

[Poll #893392]

I have a distinct feeling which way the wind will blow on this one, but I'm curious nonetheless.

Boris fucking Karloff? Jimmy Durante's nose could bludgeon him to death from ten feet away!

Doesn't Burl Ives get double credit for narrating the Ewok Movie that ABC aired back in the day?

I vaguely recall that coming out on Christmas.

Huh, I would have thought that Gene Shepherd would be the overwhelming favorite. Who knew.

I stared at this way too long before choosing Burl Ives. It could have just as easily been Jean Shepherd. It's really a complete and utter toss up between the two. I went with Burl Ives partly because I thought Jean Shepherd would be the overwhelming favorite, like puddnhead.

You might also consider whoever the hell the narrator was in It's a Wonderful Life.

For me, it came down to Ives and Karloff. It's a good thing Gonzo wasn't thrown in there, or I might never have picked.

Gonzo in the Muppet Christmas Carol.

I still feel it's one of the best (if not *the*) interpretations of Dicken's A Christmas Carol.

Hey, don't forget Fred Astaire's (un?)forgettable turn in "The Man in the Santa Claus Suit" That should get him an extra....uh....half point?

Apparently I'm feeling mushy instead of silly.

Oh, but it's got a big tree... and maybe an action figure came out of the deal. That's only vaguely Christmas-y.

I imagine in this age of wonders one could procure the entire Star Wars Christmas Special if one wished, but I'm not sure that would be a wise move.

I really, really wanted to give it to Burl Ives, but I had to go with Karloff. It's not really fair -- if even one of the songs in "Rudolph" was even half as good as "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch", Ives could've had it walking away. So I admit to being influenced by factors that do not pertain to the narrator strictly as narrator, but what can you do?

I've gotta agree with your assessment here. I spent at least a minute agonizing over both choices, but in the end, it had to be Karloff.
