Our soda vending machine's refrigeration unit appears to be busted, and all the drinks are served room temperature instead of frosty cold. Because of this, someone has helpfully affixed a sign to the machine that reads "SODA IS NOT COOL."

I have an compulsion to take a pen and retort with "Who are you to judge what I drink?"

This reminds me of the thread on John Scalzi's blog a while back where everyone was arguing about their favorite brand of soda pop, and then some guy came in and posted a long rant about how the stuff is all poison anyway and all the companies that make it kill people in the Third World, with some inline photos of death-squad victims or something. And then Scalzi explained to him about how you behave on a web forum, but the whole exchange sent me into this two-day funk just thinking, "OK, but suppose he's right?" and how living in America and buying things makes you worse than Hitler.

I get that a lot.
