He once did a show that ran directly from a review of New York, into a show by Andrew Zimmerman. The transition was literally the two of them meeting on a beach in Brooklyn. Bourdain made a few comments about Zimmerman taking it a bit too far, as I recall.
I think a real foodie will try anything. That's what moves them from the category of "like the rest of us".
