In case you were too distracted by the "CHEWFAIL" ads that Snickers has everywhere to notice the other ads, Pepsi has come out with "Throwback" versions of both Pepsi and Mountain Dew that are made with real sugar.

I bought both tonight for comparison. Started in on one.

The Mountain Dew is absolutely fucking delicious.

Now:
  1. Coke needs to hop on this goddamn bandwagon and fast. Waiting a year for Kosher Coke or other amounts of times for friends to come back from Mexico or OtherCountry is too long to wait.
  2. This needs to not be a "limited time collector's edition!" deal.
  3. Snickers needs to shut the chewfuck up.
That is all.

Not that this helps you at all, but you can get Mexican Coke at Costco all year round. Well, maybe you know someone with a membership.

And Goose Island Root Beer, made the way God intended with cane sugar. I would pour some out for my fallen homies, but they're only worth HFCS.

I've read on some of the soda-reviewing blogs that the sugar is only part of the deal with Mountain Dew Throwback -- they also changed the citrus (added real orange juice? took real orange juice out? don't remember. but something like that.)

Husband and I were discussing this the other night, because I am thinking the throwback pepsi is in special packaging, and he says he thinks that is not the case. His case for this is that he bought a normal pepsi and sugar is listed as one of the ingredients (after HFCS) and he thinks they are just scamming people by only putting SOME sugar back in. I'm thinking that normal Pepsi uses some sugar, and that the throwback pepsi is going to be just sugar, no hfcs, and will be in special packaging.

Help me save my marriage, oh spatchly one!

Throwback is in a special package, and specifically says Throwback on it.

Haha, the supermarket near me only carries Throwback in the twelve packs. So I guess I might try it only twelve times to say I've had it!

Actually, Mexican Coke? Has appeared in a Mexican restaurant down my way with HFCS on the translated ingredients label.

It usually comes as a white powder.

While traveling last weekend, we ran into something called "Pepsi Natural" in a 10-ounce bottle which real sugar in it as well.

Could be a test marketing thing, but I have high hopes.

This has nothing to do with pop, but I saw this site, http://www.xtranormal.com and immediately thought of the havoc you could create using it. It is a text-to-movie site and the characters look like minifigs.

I heard about this on NPR, and the NPR person was asking whoever it was they had on talking about it, whether he thought there was a sizable market for sugar-soda. I thought it was funny that there was no mention of the (apparent-to-me) cult of folks who buy/fuss about Kosher-for-Passover and Canadian Coke for the sugar...it seems part of at least a sub-culture of die-hard soda drinkers... :)

I've got no idea what your annoying Snickers ads are about, but at the moment they're doing a campaign with Mr. T over here and it completely wins.

Clearly you haven't gotten dunked by PATRICK CHEWING. Some of them are so far fetched and idiotic that I've had to stop and think about what the hell they are trying to convey and how I could possibly conceive of it as delicious.

I'm pretty sure the absolute worst one is the one which reads "TAKE A SABBATICAL IN FEEDGYPT". I just want to smack someone so hard for that.

Seriously all of the current ad campaigns I've noticed lately have been a very negative sort of taking notice. Between these and the alien-head-Quaker man bits I just want to hide.

Yes. Pepsi Throwback is decent stuff, reminding me how much better sugar tastes than HFCS.

But Mountain Dew Throwback is glorious.

Also: GET OFF AT THE NEXT AVENCHEW?

Dew Throwback tastes exactly like I remember it tasting when I was 5 and got it in glass bottles out of this super-old vending machine at my grandfather's union hall.

Which is to say, they better fucking make that shit permanent or I am driving the fuck over to Purchase, NY and heads are going to god damn ROLL.

I wonder what peanut butter M&Ms would be like if they were made with only real sugar?
