You gotta admit that "I'm the last of my kind" can be a devastatingly effective pick-up line on the right person. I don't know if there's a holodeck equivalent of 10-Forward somewhere in the bowels of the TARDIS, but I'll bet some bars of gold-pressed latinum that the Doctor has been practicing his lines in there before he picks up an easy Earth woman.
