It's a marvelous day at the Porcupine Racetrack! See it before Viacom notices and yanks it from YouTube.

(the video quality is crummy but that's what you get when the only time this was ever released, it was on VHS and it was a long time ago.)

Oh, and there also seems to be a nice copy of The Jew, The Italian and The Redhead Gay as well! Hooray for Viacom not noticing!

My favorite part of this one is the gasping-while-holding at the end.

ps: we had the two-forty, we had to have the pudding. aw yeah.

That's a wonderful memory brought back. I loved The State, and remember this bit fondly. "So when they blow that whistle, I'll move my little bristles"

The pudding was loading as I replied. I've just giggled far too much and have the urge to add aw yeah on to every sentence. aw yeah.

I suspect that I could probably sing most of that sketch from memory.

There was a rumor going around that MTV was working on a DVD release, but they'd rather do 3000 Real World releases first, I guess.

(Also I think part of Season One is on iTunes.)

HEY, I'M-A DA POPA!

I think so! That is a fun book, as it has the best description of the pedals of a car ever. One I still use to this day.

Press the pedal on the left (the one shaped like Ernie) to stop. Press the pedal on the right (the one shaped like Bert) to go.

The DVD set is real and will be happening soon. It will apparently contain everything ever in one box. However, it should be noted that there will likely not be any or at least most of the original background music, as MTV didn't want to pay for licensing.

Assuming the episodes available on iTunes and Xbox Live are the ones that will make it to DVD eventually, they've done a lot of editing.

Mostly music, as you say, but I've also noticed:

* the $240 worth of pudding sketch has been completely redubbed for some reason
* Don Law is missing the part where he makes you potato salad
* Celebrity Guidance Counselor has some really noticeable pixelation where they covered up photos

Ah, probably.

But they redubbed the voices too, which just really threw me off.

Uh, this is very good. I think I was too young to appreciate this at the time (even though I'm like a year older than you)

I was always fond of that Senator Cavanaugh ad.

Oh man... I haven't seen these gems from The State in a long time. I still have these on VHS somewhere as well. (I'm not sure where my hidden stash of recorded TV is... I'll have to go garage diving)

Aw yeah

The puddin' (NOT pudding) one is my all-time favorite, not just of The State, but practically of anything funny in general. That one sketch alone would be worth the price of a DVD to me. It's been up and yanked from the YouTube at least once before already - nice to see it back, at least for a time. I can't seem to find the other Barry and LeVon (the one with the Love Seat) which is too bad, because that was pretty good too.

Heck yes!

Okay, porcupine racetrack is like my favorite ever. At one point I'm pretty sure I had it memorized. Too bad this clip doesn't include the bit from the beginning- "Mtv asked us to please not do this sketch" etc.

I'm ashamed to admit I felt a small bit of relief when they yanked "The State". It suggested that some large segment of the MTV market had the same sense of humor I did. That was a disturbing thought at the time. Now it might be worth it if it means a DVD release.

Meanwhile, Spatch, where'd you get the $240 dollars?

Never mind, that ain't my concern.

MTV still takes the occasional bizarre program. Wonder Showzen is a fantastic example. That's probably the most viscerally offensive, hateful, and confrontational TV show ever produced. I still find it amazing that it made air.

I love The State. Awww yeah.

I found Bacon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qi2aCSfhvKg) while surfing the neighborhood.
